Dir. of Golf Course Ops
Lee has been with the club in his current position for 34 years. He began his career with the club in the summers of 1985 and 1986 as intern from Auburn University. Upon graduation in 1987, Lee started as assistant superintendent and a short time later was promoted to Head Superintendent.
Lee is very involved in the golf course industry and is Past President of the Alabama Golf Course Superintendents Association, the Alabama Turfgrass Association, and The Alabama Turfgrass Research Foundation. He was also a on the USGA Green Section Committee for 17 years and was on the Board of Directors for the Southern Turfgrass Association. Lee also serves as an industry advisor for the College of Agriculture at Auburn University.
He and his family are also very involved with their church, Dawson Memorial Baptist Church. Lee serves as a Life Group Teacher, Deacon, and on several committees. He also is currently serving on the Board of Directors of The Birmingham Botanical Gardens.
Lee has been married to Amy for 33 years and she is a pharmacist at UAB. They have three children Franny (deceased), Shelton, and L.J.
